Wills, Trusts & Probate

A properly drafted will is the foundation of an estate plan — it directs how your assets are distributed, names a guardian for minor children, and appoints an executor. Without one, Maine's intestacy laws decide for you.

Wills, Trusts & Probate

Probate is the court-supervised process of authenticating a will, paying a deceased person's debts, and distributing what remains to beneficiaries. The court appoints a Personal Representative — often called an executor — to manage this process, and we help Personal Representatives meet their fiduciary responsibilities correctly and on time.

Not every estate requires full probate; Maine offers simplified procedures for smaller estates, and we help determine which path fits your situation. When disputes arise among heirs or beneficiaries, we also represent clients in probate litigation, including will contests.
